Once again I have started a new project.  You will find this to be a bit out of the ordinary...kinda like me!  :)  This one is a trike...not just any trike...but mine.  I've spent hundreds of hours surfing the net, looking at thousands of photos, talking with many people, and have come up with what I want to ride down the road with Carolyn and Chiquita (our dog) behind me.  Who knows, maybe Carolyn will even drive it...????

So, this is where I start...I bought a 1973 VW Bug with a 1600 dual port engine, 4 speed transmission.  It was at a dealership and I was able to get a good deal on it.  It runs good (after adding some vacuum tubing).  Scott (my son) started dismantling it on March 29, 2004.  The photos below will show the process.

First the rear hatch came off.  It was hanging on with rope when I got it.  So, that was no loss!  :)

Now comes the doors.  (I'm the good lookin' one in the Hawaiian shirt...)

The Bug is in the shop and the engine is being taken out.  What a dirty job...

Here we go...

Woo Hoo...the engine is out and on a dolly...
   now what do I do???

Don knows what to do...drink some coffee...steady the nerves!

The rear end ... just wait till you see the finished product!

We came back from lunch...low & behold...we had a convertible!

What a wonderful tool the sawzall is...just cut the body up and take it off.

Now, remember, safety first...just start cutting...

  CUTTING....

and more cutting...

and some  nudging...

a little more nudging...

and finally, it's apart...the rear end is separate.....

That's the end of the first day.....after that, we didn't get photos along the way, however, we bought seats, exhaust, lots of other parts & most of all, the front end...Honda 750.

4/7/04 - I got the front end of the motorcycle cut off today, bought some wheels & tires, and can now show a "mock up" of the trike...just use your imagination...you can do it...

Here I go, trikin'
